Banyan Air Service celebrated its 35th anniversary this year and gained many new accomplishments. The Banyan Maintenance team added the Challenger 605, Falcon 900EX, HondaJet, and CJ4 to their repair station certification and the Hawker 800 XP and 850 XP to their Chilean Repair Station Certification. Along with becoming a service center for the HondaJet, they became a GHAE Authorized Service Center.

The Piaggio maintenance hangar will be located in hangar 72.

Our avionics team finished 2014 with some special accomplishments as well. They hosted a Garmin seminar, a NextGen seminar, Garmin G500H installation on Eurcopter Model EC-350, numerous dual Garmin 600 installations on TBM and PC-12 aircraft. In addition they have new STCs; one for the Satcom Direct Router on Lear 60, Falcon 50, and Falcon 900 aircraft and the other which amends our Gulfstream STC to include the Satcom Direct Router on GII, GIIB, and G IV/IVSP aircraft. The year ended by completing a FANS system on a Boeing 727.

At NBAA 2014, Piaggio Aerospace signed an agreement to partner with Banyan to develop a centralized support facility for Piaggio maintenance, repairs and parts inventory. As we look forward to the new year, Banyan will work hard to gain more experience and knowledge to better serve our customers.


Dave Valenta, Banyan’s director of maintenance gives the Aft Fuselage Locker his seal of approval, as he visualizes how nicely he could stow his own set of golf clubs.

Recently the Banyan maintenance team completed a ZR LITE Performance System and added Raisbeck Aft Fuselage Lockers on a Lear 31A.


The ZR Lite Performance System enables the aircraft to fly higher, faster and farther, while consistently saving 5-14% in fuel. The main element of this modification is a re-contoured trailing edge flap system with an extended chord that  reduces high speed drag, improves lift distribution and improves flap effectiveness.

The Aft Fuselage Locker adds 300 pounds of storage space outside the aircraft, perfect for stowing skis, poles, golf bags, hunting and fishing equipment, baggage or other items. The Aft Fuselage Locker is watertight, waist high for easy access, limits wear and tear on interior, reduces trim drag and improves stability.

With the increased coverage provided by adding a second shift and the addition of nine new technicians in the last ninety days, Banyan Air Service (FXE) has added the Lear 40 series airframe to their growing list of capabilities.

“Our on-going marketing research has shown a real need from the Lear 40/45 community for another option other than the OEM for support in South Florida and Banyan Air Service intends to answer that call.  With many of these aircraft coming out of their factory warranty period, we have made the investment in training and tooling to serve this market. Aircraft Sales has started a new series of postcards that will be sent out each quarter that shows a quarterly market update. We sent our first card out in the winter of 2010 for the King Air-Pilatus market and starting this quarter we will be sending out one for the Citation-Beechjet and one for the Hawker-Learjet market. These postcards are a summary of quantity for sale, percentage of the fleet, what was sold over the past 90 days and the average days on market.
