Banyan's Bahamas Day

This event was held February 20, 2010 for pilots who wanted information on flying to the Bahamas and for people wanting details about charter flights.

Banyan transformed its hangar into the look and feel of the Bahamas.
Over 30 exhibitors were on-sight, providing everything from hand-rolled cigars to Bahamian rum cake samples. A number of resorts and hotels were available to answer questions and provide additional information about activities and attractions.

The Bahamian Junkanoo Shakers made hearts beat fast and provided a feast of color with their extravagant costumes and rhythm drums.

Mini-seminars were held in the Sable Palm Conference Room above Hangar63 (Banyan's Aviation Store).

    • eAPIS - Presented by Michelle Bernal of U.S. Customs and Board Protection. This seminar helped pilots understand eAPIS requirements and how to file on-line.
    • Flying to the Bahamas - Presented by John Obradovich of Pilot Publishing and Greg Rolle of the Bahamas Tourist Office. This seminar provided information on Gateway FBOs, required documentation and various island accommodations and activities.
    • Prepare Your Aircraft for Overwater Flight - Presented by Corbin Hallaran of Premier Aircraft Sales. This seminar discussed the steps you should take to ready your plane and yourself for overwater flight to the Bahamas.
    • Survival Equipment Demonstration - Presented by Charlie and Donna Rogers of Survival Products, Inc. This demonstration showed how to inflate a lift raft.

Our appreciation to the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and our other sponsors for their assistance and support of this annual event.

Join us in looking forward to the 2011 Bahamas Day, which will be hosted by another Gateway FBO.
